In an unfortunate turn, DalSoccerLive is being forced to cancel our live-blogging of the AUS Men's Playoffs.
As you may know, Dalhousie University is notoriously bad for wireless internet, which we need to blog from Wickwire Field. The field itself is even worse.
Regrettably, Dalhousie Athletics could not provide us with an internet connection at the field, although they were able to provide the webcast team with a connection. According to facilities manager Chris Kehoe, that connection is exclusive and there's no way to allow DalSoccerLive access to that connection, or any way to provide a different connection for us at any time during the weekend.
We anticipated these problems, and Dylan and Gazette Editor-in-chief Josh Boyter have both been working for the past week to find a back-up plan. Yesterday afternoon it became clear the Gazette simply did not possess the technology at the moment to get wireless internet on the Dal campus. Boyter investigated purchasing the necessary equipment, but the expense was simply too great for a campus newspaper or bare-bones internet publication to afford.
We regret that we cannot bring you live-blogging of the tournament. We did try watching the web stream and blogging, but the picture quality wasn't good enough to allow Dylan to give an objective, factually correct, and informative report.
We will post match reports here, and As It Happened minute-by-minute reports, as we did through most of the season. We encourage you to enter into discussion on the games in the comments section of our posts.
We will be live-blogging the CIS national tournament, as the technical problems at Wickwire Field do not affect our coverage of that tournament. Please join us next weekend for that tournament.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
