Tigers Soccer Pre-Season Schedule Available

By Dylan Matthias

The Tigers pre-season soccer schedule for the 2011 season has been posted on the Dal Athletics website.

Here are the pre-season schedules:

On September 1st, the women will play at 3pm and 5pm against Saint Mary's and Acadia. These games are both at Wickwire.

On September 4th, the women play again at Husky Stadium in their final pre-season game.

The men play in Antigonish on the 6th against St. FX.

Both teams open their seasons against strong UPEI teams on Saturday September 10th at Wickwire. Those games will be webcast on SSN Canada, and should be a good show.

As we'll see when I eventually get around to doing a 2011 season preview (I promise it'll be done in the next few days!), UPEI's women's team should be very strong this year, and the UPEI men are usually competitive and well-organized, too.

The pre-season games hold lots of storylines for the Tigers. The men have to fill holes left by Ross Hagen and Chris Haughn, and pre-season will give Pat Nearing a chance to experiment with some more fullbacks, as well as see how new recruit Bezick Evraire-Chance handles AUS play. The women are rebuilding this year, so just seeing who pops up on the field could be a story in itself.

  1. Like the site, but get more stories confirmed by coaches. You had Zach Bauld at Dal last year and Hamzeh Afani playing when he was already scheduled for season ending ACL surgery. Dal should benefit from having him back this year (if he's back). I heard Abuchi Ezurike is not returning. Good pick up with Jason Ross to apprentice under Ben Ur.
