Women's Upset

CBU are out int he women's tournament as well, losing 2-1 to extreme underdogs Brock University (Brock qualified 4th in the Canada West conference, and still won the playoffs to come to nationals). So the defending champs are out, meaning I am now 0-1 on my predictions, having chosen CBU last night to repeat. They were, quite frankly, the best team in this thing. Great defense, good offense, incredible goalkeeping.

This will be a huge disappointment for them. Brock scored early, in the eighth minute, from Cassandra Von Bakel (now nice summaries for me to use here, I was in class during this one). Cape Breton would score in second half stoppage, with a goal from Jennifer Sheppard, but it came one goal too late--Von Bakel had doubled her tally to put the result beyond all doubt two minutes earlier.

It's a rough result for Cape Breton, it's hard to tell from the bare minimum stats available right now, but it looks like the vaunted offense of Kristina Weatherbie failed to materialise, and the staunch defense Dal could only beat once in 270 minutes of play this season gave up two goals.
